Lindenberg is an idyllic little health resort town of 12,000 people located at 800 meters above sea level and tucked away in the foothills of the Alps. In 2007 it was also officially named the town with the most hours of sunshine per year in Germany!
The great hospitality of its people has been legendary for many centuries, as Lindenberg played an important role in the trading business (especially of horses) from the Northern part of Germany to Italy. Trade and tourism due to its wonderful location in the very picturesque Allgaeu region have also brought the town some wealth, as evidenced by the little trivia fact that Lindenberg had electric streetlights before Munich did!
The beautiful surroundings and the proximity of the mountains, Austria, Switzerland and wonderful Lake Constance with all its many tourist attractions offer our students limitless opportunities for excursions and recreational activities. At the same time, the town itself provides all the necessary conveniences and a great infrastructure for our international guests.
Our school is located on the edge of Lindenberg on a little hill with gorgeous views of the mountains and the town, which is within easy walking distance (less than 10 minutes). The course center is a residential school, i.e., the classrooms are within the same building complex as the student dormitories. It lies amidst a beautiful park and next to a small forest, both of which belong to the school premises of the Humboldt-Institut.
Many classrooms have very large south-facing windows with breathtaking views of the Alps and all of them are equipped with modern teaching facilities. The house offers room for almost 200 students and has a fantastic infrastructure with lots of facilities for leisure activities.
Our students stay on campus in the residences of our school in Lindenberg. Most of the rooms are either single or double rooms, but there are also few rooms with three or four beds. All rooms have a very nice view, either of the Alps or of the forest. The rooms all enjoy the same high quality of furniture, which is modern, practical and at the same time friendly (wood) and functional.
Even though some rooms still share facilities, many of the rooms have their own shower and bathroom. We make sure that students are separated in the residence by age (juniors 10-14 years of age and teenagers 14-17 years of age) as well as gender. We also always try to place people of the same German language level, yet of different mother tongues together in a room, so that they will be encouraged to practice their German with each other.
We provide full board for our students, which includes three main meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Additionally, fruit is available any time. Laundry service is offered to our students free of charge once a week.
In Lindenberg, students also have the choice of living with a local German family, where they stay in single and double rooms. They will only have their breakfast with the family; all other meals will be taken in our residential school, to ensure that the children will be integrated in the group of students staying on campus.
We have chosen all of our host families in Lindenberg very carefully, know them personally and guarantee that our students will be well taken care of there. The same rules for roommates apply as in the case of residential schools: We will always try to place people of similar age, and of approximately the same German language level, yet of different mother tongues together in a room, so that they will be encouraged to practice their German with each other.
Most of the families live within walking distance (10 to 20 min.) from the school. If the family lives further away, we organize daily transportation.
Our school in Lindenberg always impresses our students with its fantastic recreational infrastructure:
Young athletes will find many sports facilities like huge outdoor playing fields and lawns, a tartan court and a gymnasium for soccer, volleyball, basketball, handball, badminton, as well as an indoor swimming pool with a view of the Alps, a miniature golf course and mountain bikes for long rides through the magnificent surroundings.
Budding artists can give wings to their creativity in our arts and crafts rooms and workshops for such activities as window painting, silk painting, tie dye, woodwork and soap stone carving, while at the same time games and party rooms (including pool, foosball and ping-pong tables, darts etc.) guarantee an interesting and diverse leisure program.
Facilities also include an auditorium with a stage, a party room, an Internet room, a large barbecue area with a grill, a sunbathing area, several balconies (some of which are covered), and even a sauna. In the winter, there is an extensive network of trails available for cross-country skiing, and, of course, we also go to the mountains for downhill skiing.
Regardless of the weather, our teenagers can always have fun after class. And our full time staff of counselors and facilitators will make sure that everyone will feel integrated, and that the vast array of activities they organize includes a great option for every student.
The town of Lindenberg offers additional sports and recreational opportunities, such as movies, dancing, an outdoor swimming pool near the Waldsee, an ice rink, summer curling sheets, etc. It is also the ideal starting point for excursions, as it lies only few kilometers away from Lake Constance and the Austrian Alps. On weekends, we also organize day trips to famous destinations such as Munich and Stuttgart, the Rhine, Switzerland and the world-famous castles of King Ludwig II (Neuschwanstein and Linderhof).
From January till March students may also book skiing lessons. Furthermore, hip-hop dancing classes are offered in July and August. These activities are not included in the course fees.

Reliable round-the-clock supervision is guaranteed seven days a week by our female and male staff.
Every Saturday, our staff members organize and accompany full-day excursions. These events and the entrance fees are included in the course fee. We offer our students a great variety of trips to interesting cities like:
The world-famous Bavarian capital on the Isar river, with its amazing array of museums, sights and shopping opportunities
The so-called “cradle of the automobile”, where the Mercedes-Benz was invented and where Porsche and Maybach now have plants as well
On a tour through the 2,000-year-old city, the diversity is striking. Be fascinated by the stately Renaissance houses, magnificent churches, streets and artisanry quarter
An old Roman town in a gorgeous mountain setting and located in the southernmost holiday region of Germany, which makes history vivid and tangible
Excursions are also available to other local attractions and towns around Lake Constance (Meersburg, Constance, and Mainau Island – the beautiful “Island of Flowers”), and even to such interesting places as the famous Neuschwanstein and Linderhof castles of King Ludwig II in Fuessen.
Every Wednesday, our students will have half-day excursions to sights within the region, to nearby mountain peaks and to many local towns of cultural or scenic interest like Lindau (on Lake Constance) or Bregenz (Austria).
Wherever we take our course participants, we guarantee reliable supervision during the trip.
We will gladly pick up our students from the closest railway station free of charge. The name of that station is Roethenbach im Allgaeu.
If students wish to be picked up from the airport, we can arrange an airport transfer service for them for a fee. Airports from and to which transfers can be arranged are: Zurich, Munich, Memmingen and Friedrichshafen.
