Munich is world-famous for its Oktoberfest, but the city has so much more to offer: Great museums like the Deutsches Museum, the Bavaria Film Studios, BMW Welt (world) and Museum and the Allianz Arena soccer stadium have contributed as much to the unique fame of this beautiful historic Weltstadt mit Herz (charming metropolis) as the bustle of its main square, the Marienplatz.

Young people enjoy the abundant repertoire of events, concerts, shopping opportunities and sports facilities that Munich has to offer. Nonetheless, the parents of our young students should not worry about sending their children to this big city. Munich was able to preserve its charm from the days when it was a small Bavarian town, and is considered Germany’s safest metropolis. Learn more about our German language summer program in Munich!

The school

Our German courses in Munich are held in the Don Bosco youth hostel near the center center. The school’s wonderful location very close to downtown, yet in a very quiet neighborhood and surrounded by its fantastic sports and recreational facilities, make it the perfect place for students who wish to study in a big city, yet prefer the tranquility and convenience of a residential campus. The lessons are held in friendly, well-equipped classrooms on the very same premises where our students are housed.

The rooms of the dormitories are bright and cheerful and most have two beds, although some of them also have three to four beds. Showers and toilets (shared) are available in sufficient numbers on all floors. Wi-Fi access is available.

We carefully choose the students who will share a room with each other. We take care to match roommates who have a comparable German language level and are of similar age, yet speak different native languages. This way we encourage them to speak and practice German with each other outside of the classroom. Boys and girls are housed separately.

Our students receive three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) as well as a snack daily.

Laundry service is offered to all students free of charge once a week for their personal laundry. Sheets and linen will be provided and changed regularly. We ask you to bring your own towels for daily use.

Leisure time

Munich offers a multitude of leisure opportunities, which our counselors will include in the daily program. The old part of the city is the busiest spot, while oases of peace like the English Garden or the common greens along the Isar River offer inviting locations for private outings in the sun.

The Don Bosco youth hostel is designed especially for the needs of young people. There are ample indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, a large indoor swimming pool, as well as a big lounge.

Activity program

Every day we offer an attractive and varied activity program with sports, games or cultural events for the leisure time after class. Our staff will encourage and motivate students to participate in the activities. This leisure program is included in the tuition fees.

The following leisure activities are offered:

Fitness room
Galleries and museums
Party room
Swimming (indoor pool)
Sports field
Sports hall
Table football
Table tennis

Every Saturday, our staff members organize and accompany full-day excursions to attractive destinations. Every Wednesday, our students will have half-day excursions to sights and interesting towns within the region. The excursions and the entrance fees are already included in the course fee. Some of our offers include:

The Alps

Neuschwan- stein castle

We guarantee reliable around-the-clock supervision, both during the excursions as well as throughout the whole course. All students are expected to attend all classes, meals and scheduled activities and excursions.
