The boarding school building in Bad Dürkheim

An idyllic course location in one of the most beautiful regions of Germany

The weather forecast calls for warm, sunny conditions in Bad Dürkheim, which is located in the mildest climatic zone north of the Alps. This historic health resort with about 20,000 inhabitants is nestled in the Palatine Forest, one of the largest nature parks in Germany. The town combines Mediterranean flair with the proverbial cheerful nature of the Palatine people.

Situated right on the German Weinstrasse (wine route), Bad Dürkheim is surrounded by numerous valleys, impressive hills and medieval fortresses and castles. It is the ideal starting point for hikes and bike rides, as well as for excursions to nearby sights and famous cities like Heidelberg, which is only 45 minutes away and can be viewed from the town on a clear day.

Bad Dürkheim can be reached easily and safely from Frankfurt Airport with the Humboldt transfer service.

Accommodation

Our students are accommodated in the same building in which the classes take place, so they can conveniently reach their lessons without leaving the campus. The rooms (with three or four beds) are partly equipped with en-suite showers and toilets, others have shared facilities.

We carefully choose the students who will share a room with each other. We take care to match roommates who have a comparable German language level and are of similar age, yet speak different native languages. This way we encourage them to speak and practice German with each other outside of the classroom. Boys and girls are housed separately.

Our students receive three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) as well as a snack daily.

Laundry service is offered to all students free of charge once a week for their personal laundry. Sheets and linen will be provided and changed regularly. We ask you to bring your own towels for daily use.

The Humboldt-Institut is great: we do a lot of activities and excursions. It's wonderful!
