Learn German in a real castle

Heessen Castle is situated on the Lippe River on the outskirts of the town of Hamm, in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region. Hamm offers many public green spaces, among them Maximilian Park with its huge glass elephant, the landmark of the town.

The castle dates back to the 15th century and was built in a neo-gothic style. It is embedded in a nature reserve and is surrounded by a lovely park. Besides its many historical and modern buildings, the campus also feature a small island in the Lippe River.

Heessen can be reached easily and safely from Düsseldorf Airport with the Humboldt transfer service.

German summer courses for kids

Our German courses in Hamm are held at Heessen Castle boarding school. The Heessen Castle campus combines tradition and modern comfort and offers our young students a great variety of leisure time opportunities as well as a safe environment.

The former manor of knights is surrounded by lush green meadows, trees, rivers, as well as a small island on the Lippe River.

In addition to the Gothic three-winged main building, the gorgeous castle premises comprise a modern school building and several outbuildings. The classrooms are equipped with modern smart boards.

Accommodation

Our students are housed in the castle’s dormitories in twin, triple and quadruple rooms with shared facilities. Wifi is available.

We carefully choose the students who will share a room with each other. We take care to match roommates who have a comparable German language level and are of similar age, yet speak different native languages. This way we encourage them to speak and practice German with each other outside of the classroom. Boys and girls are housed separately.

Three main meals and two snacks per day are provided for our students in the school canteen, which has been certified by the German Nutrition Society.

Laundry service is offered to all students free of charge once a week for their personal laundry. Bed linen and towels will be provided and changed regularly.

There are lots of activities to do and you learn by having fun. And there's a great atmosphere in general.
