Online German Courses
In addition to the proven German courses at various course locations, the Humboldt Institute now also offers live online German courses that allow students of different ages to learn German from home.
Here is an overview of the most important facts regarding the online German classes:
- Lessons are taught live by experienced teachers from the Humboldt-Institut
- A proven curriculum and course material from the intensive courses
- All skills – speaking, writing, reading, listening and grammar – are also covered in the online course
- A powerful learning platform with virtual rooms for lessons and group work

This flexible range of online courses enables students who cannot travel to Germany to attend a German course, or who would like to continue studying after a German course at the Humboldt-Institut, to access the high-quality Humboldt German courses from the comfort of their home.
The format of the online classes supports a continuous learning process and teachers are available to answer questions from the students. In this short video, our teacher Lena introduces all the important features and functions of the learning platform and the online German courses.

Online German Courses for Teenagers
The Humboldt Institute offers online German classes for adolescents. With those classes also young learners can learn German from home. Here is an overview of the available courses:
Online Summer Course 10

Course Information
The courses comprise 10 German lessons (each 45 minutes) per week and can be booked during the period from July 05 until August 27, 2021 for either two, four, six, or eight weeks. All courses will end on August 27, 2021 at the very latest.
All course participants need to have at least some prior knowledge of the German language. The online program is not suitable for total beginners.
Important: The very latest registration deadline is two weeks prior to the course start. Further, the full course fee must be settled before the start of the course. Thank you for your understanding.
Please observe that the online courses only take place if a minimum of four participants sign up per class. The average class size is 8 students per class.

Course Information
The online private lessons are suitable, among other things, for the follow-up of a face-to-face course in order to maintain and consolidate the content learned. On request, skills and topics can be dealt with in a targeted manner, for example to prepare for an exam. The schedule and the scope of the courses are flexible. The minimum booking is two consecutive lessons of 45 minutes each per week with a total booking of at least 10 lessons. The packages can be booked in increments of ten (10, 20, 30 or 40 lessons).
For participants without prior knowledge, the use of an intermediary language, usually English, is required.
This offer is only available outside the high season.

The participants in the group courses must have a similar level of German.
Technical Requirements
The learning platform runs in your browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox). A computer or laptop with headphones, microphone and camera is required. Smartphones and Tabelts are not suitable for participating in the online classes. You can use the following link to check whether your computer is suitable for online courses: System check. The technical review is required to book one of the online German course.
Your German level will be determined by an online placement test. You will receive the link and further information after booking the course.
Enrollment
You may use our enrollment form to book one of the online German courses. Please select the entry “Online courses” under point 1 “Your school”. You can then choose between the different courses. After the booking request, you will receive a summary by email and a separate booking confirmation within one working day.
The registration period ends two weeks before the start of the course. Payment of the course fee is due before the start of the course.
In the days before the course starts, online meetings are offered for a technical check of your device and to get to know the learning platform. You will receive a separate message from our booking office. Participation in one of these meetings is mandatory, as no technical problems can be discussed during the courses.

Course Information
The online intensive course 30 mirrors the proven classroom-based Intensive Course 30 and enables course participants to make a quick learning progress in German.
Currently the online intensive courses 30 are integrated into the classroom-based intensive courses 30 in so-called hybrid courses. The online participants can see both the teacher and classmates in the classroom in Berlin-Mitte and can thus continue to take part in the lessons from home.

As soon as the classroom based Saturday courses in Berlin-Mitte resume, participants can simply switch back from the online course to the face-to-face course.

The online courses comprise the respective number of lessons, the course material and a certificate of participation.
The minimum age to attend the courses is 18 years. The courses take place with a minimum of 4 students per class. The average class size is 7 students. The maximum class size is 11 students.
A trial day can be arranged upon request.
