Lindenberg’s New Rooms are Designed with Sustainability in Mind 🌱13. March 2025 by

Renovated twin rooms in the west wing (from summer 2025)

We try to use the slower off-season for various projects benefiting our students. The biggest one this year is without doubt the renovation of Lindenberg’s west wing.

In total, we are renovating two floors: We ripped out all the old furniture, flooring, and started with completely empty rooms. Just in time for the summer season, students will find 26 brand new rooms (12 single and 14 twin rooms). All rooms will feature new en-suite bathrooms, new windows as well as modern and comfy furniture.

Heating, ventilation and lighting are automated, offering more efficiency and contributing to our sustainability goals as a member of the Green Standard Schools. We are also delighted to announce that the Lindenberg campus has been re-accredited by Green Standard Schools for 2025 and that we could improve our overall sustainability score by comparison to 2024.

Here you find renderings of the new rooms:

The main building was originally built in the early 1930s as a children’s orphanage for railroad workers. Since 2004, the Humboldt-Institut has been using the site as a residential language school for kids and teenagers. In the mean time, the buildings have continuously been renovated and modernized. Since 2017, for example, all rooms in the main building have been equipped with their own bathroom and most of them have been revamped. The following year, the dining hall was extended and also completely refurbished.

Last year, work was completed on the tower, which gives the campus its characteristic appearance. Inside are the teachers’ room and two classrooms/seminar rooms with a wonderful, panoramic view of the mountains!

But it wasn’t just the inside that was worked on: Since last year, the basketball court in the inner courtyard shines in new light, in a bright blue one, to be precise. That makes sports even more fun! The renovated court can also be seen in our video “Learn German in Lindenberg”.

We look forward to welcoming many international students to Lindenberg this year!
