Lindenberg

Intensive German courses all-year round in the picturesque foothills of the Alps

The place
Lindenberg is a health resort town (800 m above sea level) tucked away in the idyllic Westallgäu in the foothills of the Alps. The beautiful surroundings and nearby Lake Constance offer our students a number of attractive destinations for excursions. Lindenberg is a popular vacation spot with a variety of sports and recreational facilities.

Course description
At our center in Lindenberg, we offer intensive courses lasting anywhere between two weeks and one year, with 30 lessons per week for teenagers (14 - 17 years of age) and 25 lessons per week for juniors (10 - 14 years of age).

Furthermore, we offer one-to-one courses with 25, 30 or 40 lessons per week for students between the ages of 10 and 17. The minimum duration for a one-to-one course is 1 week.

Due to Lindenberg's flexible course system, our intensive courses meet a wide range of requirements. For example, if students want to attend a German high school or if they would like to study at a German university, we offer long-term courses (up to one year) that enable students to prepare thoroughly for their time in Germany. Please also refer to our special offer "A school year in Germany". If students would like to brush up their German during their vacations (winter, Easter break, summer, fall break,...), they can do so in a course lasting a couple of weeks. The fact that our center in Lindenberg is open all-year round enables our students to find an appropriate course regardless of their specific goals, time frames etc. Absolute beginners of German as well as advanced students will find a course in Lindenberg that meets their individual requirements.

On the first day of class, we hold a detailed placement test which allows us to assign students their corresponding course levels. Thus we ensure that courses consist of students with similar language skills, which in turn enables us to optimize the learning progress of all participants. The small size of our classes with not more than 10 participants also contributes considerably to the fact that our students notice a clear improvement of their language skills at the end of our courses.

In our intensive courses, we also emphasize the fact that students need to handle all key aspects of a foreign language (speaking, writing, reading, listening, and grammar) to a similar degree. Experience shows us that only the students who master all of these areas really feel at ease in German, which in turn is the basis for a successful and lasting learning experience.

The courses serve levels A1 - C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference as well as the Humboldt-Proficiency course.

At this language center, we offer a valuable and officially recognized certificate of German language proficiency, the Zertifikat Deutsch. In our intensive German courses, we prepare our students for the exam. As an officially licensed test center, we also hold the exam in our buildings. If you need more information about the exam, the examination dates, etc., please click on Zertifikat Deutsch.

Accommodation
Our center is located off of bustling streets on a park-like campus, just a 10-minute walk from the city center. Student housing consists almost exclusively of rooms with one or two beds, many of which have a fantastic view of the Alps. A large number of rooms have their own shower and bathroom. An alternative is the accommodation in local host families, providing the student with many "live" speaking situations every day.

For meals, which include three main meals and two snacks, we are careful to provide a well-balanced variety of food.

Free-time activities
The center impresses our students with its many recreational opportunities. Budding artists and craftsman alike will find all they need here to really relax after a day of intensive coursework. Facilities include an auditorium with its own stage, a party room, an Internet room, arts and crafts rooms, a workshop, pool table, darts, foosball, a large grill, a huge playing field and sunbathing area, several balconies (some of which are covered), and even a sauna. Regardless of the weather, students can always have fun after class.

Student athletes will find nearly everything here that their hearts desire: Volleyball, basketball, handball, badminton and ping-pong can be played indoors and outdoors; soccer can be played on a large natural playing field or an artificially surfaced field. Our center includes its own indoor swimming pool with a view of the Alps, a miniature golf course, and mountain bikes for long bike rides throughout the magnificient surroundings.

Lindenberg provides a number of sports and recreational opportunities, such as movies, an outdoor swimming pool near the Waldsee, an ice rink, summer curling sheets, etc.

Students participate in organized excursions to such places as, for example, Lindau, Meersburg, Constance, Munich and Bregenz (Austria), to the famous Neuschwanstein and Linderhof castles, to nearby mountain peaks and to many local towns of cultural or scenic interest.

An extensive network of trails is available in the winter for cross-country skiing, and, of course, we also go to the mountains for downhill skiing. Students interested in skiing lessons can find a special programme here.

Students may also take riding lessons or play tennis in town. Furthermore, hip-hop dancing classes are offered between June 29 and August 23, 2008. These activities are not included in the course fees.

Reliable supervision is guaranteed 24 hours per day.
